I blame myself, for not reading through the product description completely. I expected something that was much lighter, though still thought-provoking, reading. I thought it might be Question, Why This Question, How to Think About It, How the Answers Will Help; all wrapped up in a page or two. Light-hearted ways to contemplate Life, The Universe, and Everything (to borrow a phrase).What the book is, is a much more serious self-help for getting into business management tome. It is a solid, serious book. "Light" and "light-hearted" are not words that apply to this. It provides that same kind of outline: Question, Why, How, Benefits. However, it contemplates each of these for half a chapter or more. And it isn't a contemplation of life and everything, but rather of work-life, business situation, and career applications.As long as you acquire the book with the proper expectation, it is a quality book, well done. Just not my style.

Our educational system and culture conditions us to strive to always have the right answers. By focusing on knowing the answers, we limit ourselves to current knowledge. We miss out on discovering new things and advancing knowledge. As we grow older, we tend to know intuitively that questions are more important than answers.Less than half way through the book, I was able to use the lessons, questions to help someone make a better-informed decision. So the information is highly actionable.Warren Berger, author of The Book of Beautiful Questions, says that asking questions can improve our lives in four significant categories: Better decision making, Sparking creativity, Connecting with other and Stronger Leadership.He defines a beautiful question as – one that shifts the current thinking, opens up new possibilities and leads to breakthroughs. It is important to note that asking should always come from a position of curiosity, not interrogation.In the Introduction, Mr. Berger makes the case for asking “Beautiful” questions. He is not suggesting that we ask questions just for the sake of asking, but that our questions be strategic, crafted to help us make better decisions, foster creativity, make better/stronger connections and improve our leadership.There is a section for each category of inquiry. Mr. Berger develops a strong case for how the right questions will drive the results we want in each category. He provides examples of the right questions to ask and the correct way to ask them. Mr. Berger has identified himself as a Questionologist and has spent years studying how questions improve our lives in many different ways.Enjoyable, easy read, highly informative. You will gain the most value by reading through and then studying the concepts and keeping the book handy as a reference source.

Learning how to ask the right questions, at the right time, to the right people can take you farther in your career and your life in general than a wall of diplomas. This book helps you to focus on the key areas of decision-making, creativity, leadership and relationships. It’s full of examples of questions to ask. Almost better than that, the book is full of side bars that you can use with a quick thumb-through. These include: If you can’t find time to be creative; Four Whys to help you understand any problem; What to ask before committing to any idea.
