Even reading this makes you uncomfortable. I am agnostic but i greatly enjoy studying and reading up on religions, I was raised pagan and decided to "return to my roots" so to speak and read up on some of the teachings now that I am older and feel that I would understand it more. This sad excuse for a "Grimoire" I feel is insulting and mocks the religion, Some of these spells are an absolute joke, and this seems more of a mixture of ooh so spooky witchcraft you expect to see in Hollywood and Christianity. Many a time in this book it refers to "our dear lord Jesus Christ." which Paganism predates Christianity and i just see this as disgusting and insulting. I feel ripped off and this book was not due my time nor my money. This book i feel does not even deserve to be donated as I do with all books I do not care for. This book belongs in the bin.

I wish I could give it less. For those looking to learn DO NOT getting this book. It is extremely misleading. And doesn't feel right when reading it. This is a horrible and very disheartening use of the word witch.

Works like a charm. My bust has increased two cup sizes after concocting my very first potion. Who knew Great Dane dingleberries and a husband’s ziplocked toot could be such useful ingredients for anything, let alone a magical bosom spell.

I feel like it mocks our pagan blessed faith .Spells to sprout wings?I'm offended , we aren't a circus and I was hoping for more knowledge not a joke!I'm a witch all year long , not just on Halloween.

Really hard to take this book seriously. The spells are organized and nice to draw inspiration from, but useless otherwise. Pulling spells from so many cultures feels disorganized and also a little disrespectful- why provide all these practices from indigenous cultures and not provide any background or context for their significance? All in all this book is nice to look at on my bookshelf but that's about as useful as it is to me.

First off, all you reviewers who were getting all jacked up about this book not being Wiccan need to spend a little more time with this book, especially the index which tells you where this stuff comes from. No, it is not Wiccan. Wicca is a religion of many trads, witchcraft is a practice which can be found under many names and in most all religions. What this book is, is an overview of magical spells, charms and practices from many religions, traditions and cultures. It is not a great book, but it is a useful basic book and an interesting book I would recommend to people who are perhaps interested in witchcraft and have some knowledge of witchcraft history. If you are already a practitioner, this book may work for you as a quick reference or starting point to study a new system.

This book presents itself as a book of practical spells for everyday life, to help you acquire things like luck, love, protection, healing, etc. It's not. It presents itself as a standard Wiccan-esque spellbook, with a circle-casting to Aradia and Cernunnos and a quick note to non-believers to put aside their skepticism. It should present itself as what it is: It is a compendium of folk magic from various cultures. Spells in this book vary from being standard Christian prayers to literally involving bat hearts, rabbit ears, etc. One spell to banish a skin implement even involves a person with a rare name barking at it like a dog. Very interesting from a scholarly perspective, especially if you study folk magic, but completely impractical. Many otherwise useful spells are made unfeasible because they require you to cut off a frog's head and legs or boil a anthill. How could this book possibly contain an introduction about spiritual practice and giving magic the benefit of the doubt, when everyone knows wearing a bat heart probably won't make you invisible (and no one would really like to try)? It's cover is gorgeous, though!

Very nice looking Gothic cover. If you do want to make some use of some of the stuff within, be mindful of the Wiccan herbal code. A potion calling for Eye of Newt isn't calling for the ocular tissue of an amphibian. The spells are a rather hit or miss collection from many different practices, some more useful than others.
