My father witnessed the arrival of the Graf Zeppellin at the 1933 worlds fair in Chicago, with his parents, my grandparents. Grandmas' employer and his son held tickets to King George the 5th's coronation when the Hindenburge arrived that fateful day on May 6,1937 when to their horror it burned itself to extinction in less than a minute. George and Harvey went on to publish their own impressions in a small book of their own contrivance. I myself held a peice of Hindenburgs charred outer covering in my own hands as a fellow student presented what was his own fathers recollection of that moment. Hindenburges incredible sky technology helped define an era. As does Cloud computeing enhance our own time. As one Teknud to another I could rhapsodise for hours on the erie interface between then now. Some things dont change;there is something timeless about airship travel afterall.-Oscarnemisher
This was a gift for my son who collects airship information, he really appreciated it.
While this book focuses on the Hindenburg, it also takes us through the history of development of the airship with plenty of photos and diagrams. If there's something you don't know about airships after reading this book, you probably didn't read it carefully enough. It's perfect. Gorgeous and one of my favorite books of all time.
At first glance it looks like one of those cheap picture-books you see at the bookstore but it's actually a pretty good history not only of the Hindenburg but of lighter-than-air flight. The illustrations are exceptional. A great book.

My 9yo grandson received this for Christmas and he loves it. He's very intrrested in the history of famous planes and ships, and most recently the Hindenburg. Awesome book and amazing price!!!!
